Today is one of the most exciting days of my life. It’s also one of the most unnerving. I’ve dreamed since childhood of writing a book that shares Sikh stories and wisdom with the world, and six years ago, I started writing that book in earnest. Today, just a few days before my 38th birthday, all that hard work culminates as the book finally comes into the world. It’s called The Light We Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life — and I’m so excited to share it with you all.
I’m excited for a lot of reasons, and I can share some of them with you here: achieving a lifelong dream; helping to introduce my beautiful community and tradition to the world; sharing some of the wisdom that has transformed my life and helped me find calm and happiness in an often tumultuous world. These same elements makes this most moment a bit overwhelming, too. This is my life’s work, and there’s something scary about putting yourself out there. I share it though, because what I hope above all is that sharing my story resonates with people, and that by opening myself up to the world, that it might open up each of us, ever so slightly.
The Light We Give draws from my experiences, but it’s not actually about me. It’s about all of us, and how we might make small shifts in our lives so that we can find daily happiness. The book is available everywhere books are sold, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local bookstores. I’d love for you to purchase a copy for yourself and a copy for a friend, colleague, or classmate who you think might enjoy it. And if you’re looking to purchase 25+ copies, please let me know so that I can set you up with a bulk discount!
Requesting the book from your local library is another great way to support. I’d also LOVE for you to go to take 30 seconds today to rate and review the book on Amazon and GoodReads. Those reviews are incredibly helpful, too.
I’m grateful to all the people who helped make this dream possible. There are too many of you to count, let alone name. And I’m thankful to all of you here, for all your love and support. Thank you for being on this journey with me. I’m truly grateful for it all.
