Today’s the day! My newest picture book, A Vaisakhi to Remember is officially out!
A Vaiskahi to Remember explores the notion of transformation, which is a central theme of the holiday and a central part of our experience as humans. It also explores and destigmatizes migration, change, and finding home in new places—each of which are also shared human experiences .
The book centers on the Punjabi and Sikh celebration of Vaisakhi. My hope is that sharing a story about Vaisakhi will invite people all over—children and adults alike—to learn about this celebration. I also hope that Sikh kids everywhere will enjoy seeing themselves and their traditions represented, and that doing so will help them feel proud of their community and their heritage.
I always dream of having more books in the world for our kids, and one way to ensure continued progress is to show the booksellers that there's a market demand for Sikh stories. If you're up for it, please consider ordering copies today to make the first week a resounding success.
The illustrations are stunning. Japneet Kaur is one of my favorite artists, and I'm so thrilled she agreed to bring this story to life. Having her art in this book makes it a great gift for family members, teachers, Punjabi school classmates, and more.
If you'd like to order 25 copies or more, please shoot an email to Kaitlin (kkneafsey@penguinrandomhouse.com). We'll be happy to set you up with a bulk discount. If you want to order from a local bookstore, you can find a slight discount through this link. Here’s the link to order through Penguin Random House and the link to order through Amazon.
I’m super grateful for all your support over the years and excited to share more books with you all. And if I don’t see you before then, Happy Vaisakhi!
Looks great! Congratulations. (fyi. I live in Guatemala, C.A.)
