Have you heard about this new TV show in development called Undivided? It features a turbaned Sikh host, who is pretty good-looking if you ask me.
Actually, don’t ask me because I might be a little biased. Yup, you guessed it. I’m the host!
Undivided explores underrepresented stories about the fight for religious freedom in US history. There’s nothing like it on TV right now and the concept couldn’t be more timely.
Over the past two years, I've been developing Undivided with my friend Jack Gordon, a globetrotting filmmaker and fellow religion nerd. Together, we’re exploring stories about religion in America that we wished people knew about. And the exciting news is that the show is starting to pick up momentum. We have a pilot about Muslim experiences. We’re filming episodes this year on the Latter-day Saints and Jewish communities. And today, we’re also launching a campaign to develop an entire episode about Sikhs in the US.
This episode is special to me as a Sikh who grew up in the US, and it feels extra special because for the first time in my life, I can help ensure that our community is included in a television program about religion.
Bringing this kind of visibility to our community has been one of my long-standing goals, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in this project. I’m hoping that people all over see the value of this episode and help support it.
All donations are tax-deductible and go to support the development of the episode on Sikh Americans. Click here for more information on the show or to watch the trailer. We’re hoping to raise enough over the next few months so that we can make this the fourth episode we create for Undivided.
Thank you all for your support, however it comes through and whatever it looks like. I’m hoping we can create something that will help enhance religious understanding, tell fresh stories that build kindness and empathy, and ultimately, play a small part in making our country and our world a better place for everyone.
How exciting! Wishing you much success on this new project Simran!
